My experience is that many people teaching natural hygiene and similar diets in the past, have absolutely no medical or advanced training and largely do not know what they are doing, although they are simply out of their hearts trying to pass on good wisdom, they however are in no position to work clinically with nutrition for all the different bodies out there. Without this, nutrition simply becomes dogma rather than truly effective for all people, regardless of whether the basic principle they teach are sound or not. Health is entirely too complicated to be so simple as to simply teach concepts that can help every person where they are at. A real nutritionist/doctor/healer etc. will have a wider perspective and more modalities available in order to truly help people. Finally, in such situations as you were in, we need very powerful, very specific support, and of course since this support is rarely available in our culture, or the money and time necessary to hire the person and get what we need is just not there, of course it is easier to just boil some animal and drink some milk then it is to do all of that. And my heart goes out to your suffering and am glad that no matter how you found relief, that you did! If you do want to eat less animal products again though, just know that it is possible, but that you would have to one, want to, and two, be willing to work with specialists and take the time to empower yourself with more information and experience.

Nutrition is a complicated subject, be careful of making broad assumptions based only on your personal experience-

Nutrition is a complicated subject, and this site does not advocate that any one way works for everyone. We have no idea what your specific brain chemistry problems were and what you were not getting or needed in order to get back into balance. Obviously, your body started to receive something it desperately needed when you started eating animal products, however, this does not mean that others are not getting what they need from a vegan diet, only that you were not getting what you needed. Moreover, perhaps with a different nutritionist then the ones you worked with, you may have been able to get what you needed from a vegan source. Also, sometimes our bodies can get so messed up, that in order to get them back into balance, it does take dramatic measures to get them back into balance.I have learned through years of experience working with all types of people as a nutritionist, that it is possible to get everything we need from a vegan source, although for many this can be incredibly difficult because it is so hard to get the information we need in order to properly balance the diet in a vegan way. I do feel certain that with certain disciplines, superfoods, and learning knew things, you could absolutely cut down on the amount of animal products in your diet again and be just fine. This however would take a lot of time and discipline and partnership with very good nutritionists and doctors. This is the main problem with vegan lifestyles however is that our culture does not support them and therefore we have to do everything practically alone. Very few people even know how to balance a vegan diet, let alone for special problems like what you experienced.
